Making History at Parliament

AS-level History students went on the election trail this April with a visit to the Houses of Parliament. Armed with their knowledge of modern British history they entered the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Although a mere stones throw from the school, entering Parliament was like setting foot into another world. An obviously inspired Gokhan asked whether it also gave the other students a buzz to walk into parts of the 1000 year old building in which so many important people had set foot. The students were much more impressed with the austere surroundings of the House of Commons, shunning the gold leaf and red leather seats of the House of Lords. Standing where the Prime Minister normally does in the House of Commons, the students cut fine figures. Perhaps we shall see Sammie, Hassan, Ahmed Osman, Gokhan, Genc and Amir sitting as MPs before long!
